I like the new blog! I find tumblr much easier to use.
For what it's worth, I think you should give LA a shot. Worst case scenario, you learn something and move back.
LA is a very different place, but it's so big, I'm sure you're bound to find your niche, and it might not be where you're expecting it. Who knows.
